Anna Turvey’s National Duathlon report, March 2013

On Saturday 9th March 2013, Pestwest sponsored athlete, Anna Turvey successfully defended her National Age Group Duathlon title in commanding style. In 2012, Anna won the same race (which takes over 2 hours) by just 4 seconds. But this year, the gap to second place was nearly 4 minutes.

After the first 10km run leg, Anna was in 5th place, approximately 90 seconds behind the lead athlete. But once on the 42km bike course Anna built a commanding lead of over 4 minutes and in the process set by far the fastest female bike split on the day. The second 5km run was a relatively stress-free affair with Anna able to relax in the final kilometers; knowing victory was secured.

This fine national championships win gets Anna’s season off to a flying start. She has a packed race programme for 2013 with key races being national, European and World championships. Two professional triathlons are planned with the first being in Fuertaventura on 13th April, where Anna will face the Olympic triathlon silver medalist. Pestwest’s support of Anna’s race programme has been an invaluable part of her success. Pestwest sponsorship will provide Anna with a state of the art racing bike for 2013, which will see further significant improvements in her race times.
