London Borough of Tower Hamlets looking to invest in training a Pest Control Officer. The successful candidate will attend a course of study to achieve the Royal Society of Public Health Level 2 in Pest Management and have a commitment and interest in pest control.
Within the Environment Health and Trading Standards Service there is a determination to continue to develop and implement technical and practical systems to proactively target pest species threatening the health of residents, visitors and people working within the borough. The appointed officer will be expected to fully participate and contribute to these processes.

Role Purpose
To provide, develop and maintain a responsive and effective Pest Control Service to meet the changing needs of Tower Hamlets’ multi-cultural community, which reflect the Council’s Core Values. To ensure successful completion of the Royal Society of Public Health Level 2 course within one year.

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months, after completion of formal training and internal assessment, we would expect the successful candidate to be in a position to apply for a permanent contract as a Pest Control Officer.

Key Responsibilities
You must have a broad understanding of Pest Control work, within residential properties. You will be expected to assist Pest Control Officers in carrying out their duties.
The ability to use information technology systems and equipment, to respond effectively in pressurised and difficult situations and to deal courteously and sympathetically with all service users and colleagues, is also essential.

Requirements
Postholder shall have a full, clean driving licence as they will be required to drive a Council van. Please note that a street parking permit is provided and Pest Control Officers collect and return the vehicle to the Council depot fo ruse during working hours (Monday to Friday). You will need to have the ability to undertake heavy manual handling work.

The postholder would be expected to attend the Limehouse Depot every day.
