West Nile Virus on the increase in USA

The current outbreak of the mosquito-borne West Nile Virus in the USA has been described as the second worst on record. The Center for Disease Control said the number of cases this year is the highest reported to federal health officials through the last week in September since 2003, the year with the most cases. So far this year 3,545 cases have been reported to federal health officials as of 25 September, with a total of 147 deaths. Thankfully, the outbreak is now showing signs of slowing.
